Baby Snakes bar displays cool and casual vibes, offering delicious and thoughtfully curated wines. The primary focus here is on delivering a remarkable experience for customers, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

In contrast to owner Mark Nelson’s previous wine-centric bars like The Moon in Collingwood and Milton Wine Shop in Malvern, Baby Snakes adopts a more laid-back approach in showcasing its wine selection.

The space features just two fridges—one for approximately 60 whites and another for an equal number of reds. Bar manager and wine buyer Rhiannon LaHatte is the creative force behind the meticulously crafted list, giving prominence to smaller local producers over big names.

Adjacent to the wine fridges sit two frozen cocktail machines at Baby Snakes, serving up refreshing Margaritas and a frozen version of Stomping Ground’s Passion Fruit Smash Sour. The drink offerings expand to include a concise cocktail list and six beer taps pouring easy-drinking brews like Philter XPA.

But Baby Snakes doesn’t just captivate your taste buds with delightful drinks; it also satisfies your hunger with an enticing food selection. Dive into stacked deli sandwiches like Reubens, Cubanos, and a zesty Szechuan eggplant creation, or opt for cheese and charcuterie boards.

And for pizza lovers, the team from Slice Shop Pizza downstairs is more than happy to deliver a pie straight to your table.

Enhancing its allure, Baby Snakes holds a live music license. With Mike Gurrieri from the PBS radio show Mystic Brew as the resident DJ and music booker, Fridays and Saturdays come alive with DJs spinning records, while Sundays offer relaxed live sets by local bands.
