The Silverlake Social bar is the latest addition to the growing collection of American-inspired spots in Prahran. The Owners are Thomas and Nicholas Welch, and they have added a fresh vibe to the bar scene.

Unlike your typical neon-soaked, beer-slinging dive bar or a Southern saloon with cowhides and a Texas drawl, this place blends stylish design with excellent American drinks.

The Chapel Street space, formerly a Chinese restaurant, now features timber curves and comfy banquette seating, exuding the energetic vibes of an American diner. A big screen above the bustling back bar broadcasts the latest USA sports while a pool table holds its ground near the front door.

The food menu explores Southern flavors, offering a range from beer snacks and burgers to burritos and BBQ-style sides.

Dive into their classic cheeseburger, brimming with juicy beef, American cheese, pickles, cos lettuce, and a drizzle of special sauce ($14). Pair tangy Buffalo wings ($14) with a hoppy Stones IPA ($12-18) while catching some NBA action on the big screen. Vegetarians can delight in a three-cheese macaroni with black beans and truffle oil ($10).

With over 25 packaged beers, including American classics like Pabst Blue Ribbon, Budweiser, and Sam Adams, along with boutique selections like Salitos Tequila beer and Lost Coast Sharkinator IPA, the drink options are abundant.

Taps feature Blue Moon, Brooklyn Lager, four other American beers, a local cider, and Mornington Lager. For those desiring something different, there’s a wine list and a broader selection of shooters, boilermakers, and cocktails.

The cocktail choices, mainly tequila or mezcal-based, contain a mezcal Negroni and a Mission Beach Cooler with tequila, coconut, mango, and lime. Whisky enthusiasts can have a Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned.
